Cancer may have won the battle, but Jesus won the war!!
Laurie Kaye Douglas left her earthly body behind in exchange for a perfect, whole, pain free one on November 4th, just 8 days short of her 47th birthday.
Laurie was born on November 12, 1977, to Bruce Wayne and Paula Kaye Vaughn Douglas. She is proceeded in passing by her father, her father- in- law Trumann Phipps, both sets of grandparents, Uncles, Marvin Vaughn and Steven Douglas and Aunt Kim Douglas. Cousins, Andrea Leigh Vaughn, Michael Keith Brasch, Gerry Don Vaughn, and Robert Dee, Carl Wayne, and Carolyn ‘Sis’ Douglas.
She leaves her memory to live on in the heart of her companion of over 25 years, the love of her life who never left her side, Raymond Phipps. The other loves of her life, her sons, Dalton Wayne Douglas and Chevy Ray Phipps, and daughter Raenee Phipps.
She also leaves her mom and dad, Paula Kaye and Robert Henry, and sisters, Robin Russell, Kim Mahar, Christy Harris, and Mandy Taylor.
Uncles and aunts, Jimmy and Betty Lee Douglas, Bobby Vaughn, Lloyd and Pam Vaughn, Jerry Lee and Paula Jo Vaughn, Denise and Dusty Cox, Della and Mike Brasch, and Wendell and Suzie Vaughn. As well as several cousins, other family, racing family, and a great host of cherished friends.
Having been born with Douglas-Vaughn blood flowing through her veins, racing was a given. Especially dirt track racing. Laurie spent a lot of time at the local tracks, especially Tri-State Speedway, where a young second generation racer caught her eye. She followed that racer and his L7 car across this part of the country to many different tracks, as long as her body allowed her to do so. She was his biggest fan to her last breath as Raymond was hers.
Laurie attended Pocola schools. She loved life, racing, and family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. But, Boogie, as she was affectionately known, by family and close friends, will live on in our hearts.
Rest in peace sweet lady, we love you.
