Leta Mae (Ross) Hamner of Heavener, Oklahoma was born April 2, 1940 in Leflore, Oklahoma to Earl Alva and Minnie Mae (Oliver) Ross and passed away surrounded by her family on June 8, 2025 in Heavener, Oklahoma at the age of 85.

 

She is survived by:

 

One daughter:

Deborah Ann Johnston and husband Richard of Heavener, Oklahoma

 

Two sons:

Michael Earl Hamner of Heavener, Oklahoma

Randy Wayne Hamner and wife Cindy of Heavener, Oklahoma

 

One sister:

Vela Newby of Bonanza, Arkansas

 

A brother-in-law:

Terry Morris of Wister, Oklahoma

 

10 grandchildren:

Bryan Bebermeyer, Brandon Dedmon, Kyle Hamner, Jason Hamner, Ashly Cormack, Collin Hamner, Danielle Hill, JR Hetherington, Kevin Smith, and Chris Armstrong

24 great-grandchildren

Numerous other relatives and a host of friends

Leta was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Minnie Ross; her husband, J.C. Hamner; s sister, Helen Morris; and a brother-in-law, Euell Newby.

Leta, a cherished member of our community and a devoted homemaker, resided in the area for many years. Her greatest joy came from the time spent with her beloved family. Leta’s presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Sam Dyer officiating. Interment will follow in Reichert Cemetery under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma

Pallbearers will be: Kyle Hamner, Jace Hamner, Bryan Bebermeyer, Collin Hamner, James Hill and Logan Hetherington.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Her grandsons and great-grandsons

 

Viewing will be Noon until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. until service time, Wednesday. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
