Lonnie Austin Cothran of Shady Point, Oklahoma, passed away on November 14, 2025, in Poteau, Oklahoma, at the age of 77.
Born on February 14, 1948, in Hackett, Arkansas, Lonnie was the son of Silas and Katherine (Shelton) Cothran. He built a remarkable 49-year career as a Pharmacist and also dedicated 19 years to practicing as a Chiropractor, roles through which he served his community with care and integrity. After decades of hard work, he retired three years ago.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Lonnie had a lifelong love for driving racing cars—a passion that brought him joy and excitement.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his father, Silas, and stepmother, Esther Cothran; his mother, Catherine Cochran; his brother, Ron Cothran; and his beloved fur baby, Leroy.
He will be remembered as a good husband, a good daddy, and a well-respected man within his community. Lonnie’s kindness, dedication, and love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Jenell Cothran of the home; two daughters, Shelly Rhinehart and husband, Patrick, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Maygan Adams and Chris Adams of Panama, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mary Sue Underwood of Spiro, Oklahoma, and Glenda Dobson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Lilly Adams; and his cherished fur baby, Pepper.
The Celebration of Life Services for Lonnie will be held privately by his family and close friends.
