Graveside services for Lucille Newby Mote, age 92, of Wister, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Maxey Cemetery in Wister, Oklahoma, with Reverend Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Lucille was born on May 2, 1933, in Wister, Oklahoma, to Vangie (Hawkins) Adams and Truman Adams, and passed away on September 20, 2025, in Heavener, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jimmy Don Newby; her brothers, Denver Adams, Omer Adams, and Howard Adams; her sisters, Laverne Moran and Lorene Upchurch; and her husband, Bill Mote.
Lucille dedicated 23 years of service as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center (EOMC), where she was known for her compassion and care for others.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Yandell and husband Lance, Brenda Newby, and Steve Newby; grandchildren, Alissa Bost, Daniel Bost, Jr., Tyler Newby, Bentli Newby, and Erica Newby; four great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who loved her dearly.
