Majid was born August 7, 1956 to Hossein and Fatemeh Afzali in Tehran, Iran. He passed from this world on December 9, 2022 in Poteau, Oklahoma surrounded by his family.
Mac came to this country as a student. While attending EOSC, he met the love of his life who became the mother of his cherished children. She used to tease him that he had to travel halfway around the world to find the woman who could put up with him. His father readily agreed to that statement.
Mac was a strong-willed man with steadfast beliefs. Hard work was first and foremost to his nature. He began working at Poteau Motor Company as an automotive technician. Mac was well-known as the best Ford automotive technician in this region and reached the highest honor of Senior Master Certified Ford Technician. If nobody else could fix it, you called him. He maintained the fleet for the Poteau Police Department, Leflore County EMS and Kiamichi Electric Company during his 41 years of automotive service. Throughout his career, he also served in the capacity as service writer, service manager, and ended his working years with his other family at Dunn Ford Company as Parts and Service Director.
Mac also loved the outdoors. He and his beloved dog, George, were always out on the first day of rabbit season. During the summer months, it was fishing with his buddies Carroll and Cliff. Deer season was always highly anticipated as he enjoyed taking his four sons over the years.
His personality was such that if you were his friend, you were a friend forever. Over the years, he made many friends. Those most special, whom he thought of as brothers, included first and foremost Bobby Mead, Bill Scroggins, Carroll Yarbrough and Bob Owens. He also held Toney Patterson in his heart as a son.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beverly; his children: Richard Himes, Brian Tallant, Sheva Afzali and Scott Arrowsmith, Matthew and Vanessa Afzali; bonus son Robert Tallant; sister-in-law Mary Jo Tallant-Ball. His beloved grandchildren, whom he loved fiercely and enjoyed spoiling, are Persephone, Hunter, Whitney, James, Foster, Joselyn, Wesley, Zara and Zadie. He was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Freya. His surviving siblings are his sister Mina and brothers, Gholam Reza and Vahid.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Michael Tallant and precious grandson, Hunter Lee Tallant.
Pallbearers will be Gary Dunn, Toney Patterson, Dennis Dolan, Eddy Daniel, Brandon Amos, and Blake Kleman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Mead, Bob Owens, and Bob Hawley.
