She was born in the Haw Creek Community on November 14, 1947, to Daniel and Reba (Doyle) Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Joe Lee Taylor; and an infant baby brother.
Margie is survived by her brother, Bobby Taylor; her sisters Julia Taylor, Ruth Watson and husband, Rick all of the Haw Creek Community. She is also survived by a number of close family members; nephews Duane Taylor, Mark Taylor and wife Carrie, and Greg Anthony; nieces Glynis Gore, Tammy Hickman and husband Joe. She is survived by 14 great nephews and great nieces, great-great-nephews, and great-great-nieces, with another on the way. She loved, was loved and valued by them all. Margie is also survived by a host of friends from her Big Creek Baptist Church and the Poteau Dialysis Staff and clients, who became like family to her, also.
Margie was a 1966 graduate of Heavener High School and served on the Haw Creek Fire Department. She was very active in her church, always asking others how they were doing, but never complaining about her own health issues. If asked how she was doing, she would always respond with, “I’m doing fine,” when we all knew she wasn’t. She worked in the Nursery for over 60 years until she recently had to give that up due to health problems.
Margie was involved in several Ministries with one of her favorites being Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child by buying items for the shoeboxes, helping sorting, and packing those shoeboxes to be sent around the world to children who many have never received a gift.
Margie was always ready to lend a helping hand to others in need, whatever the need was and whether she knew them or not. She also had 2 chicken houses and raised broiler chickens for many years with occasional help from family and neighbors. She returned their help when needed. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
