Mary Elizabeth Morris was born on February 4, 1934 in Wister, Oklahoma to Eula (Evans) Hall and Richard Hall.
Mary was a resilient matriarch whose life spanned nearly a century, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, at the age of 92 in Wister, Oklahoma.
 Born into poverty during the depths of the Great Depression, Mary grew up as the daughter of a sharecropper who labored tirelessly through the hardships of the late 1930s and early 1940s. These early challenges instilled in her a profound strength and determination that defined her character. Often lovingly called stubborn, she embodied resilience, becoming the unwavering cornerstone of her family.
 A gifted storyteller, Mary passed down wisdom through countless lessons and heartfelt tales, shaping the lives of her three children—Gordon, Darrell, and Elizabeth—and later her cherished grandchildren. Her stories carried lessons of perseverance, kindness, and the unbreakable bonds of family, values she lived every day.
Though she outlived most of her peers and many loved ones, Mary’s enduring spirit lives on in those she leaves behind. The family and friends who remain will miss her presence profoundly, carrying her memory with love sufficient for all who knew her.
She is survived by: Son, Darrell of the home; grandson, Brett Morris of Wister, OK; granddaughter, Audrey Drennan of Denver, CO. and a legacy of quiet strength and boundless love. 
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband James Morris; son Gordon Morris; daughter Elizabeth Morris; sisters, Melba Wadsworth and Elaine Matts.
Mary Elizabeth Morris will forever be remembered as the heart of her family.
Funeral Service for Mary Elizabeth Morris, 92 of Wister, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, Oklahoma with Gus Calvo officiating. Burial will follow at Maxey Cemetery in Wister, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
