She was born on March 20, 1936, in Plains, Kansas, to Mable Arvella (Smith) Spencer and William Orie Spencer. Mary Lou was raised in a farming family, where she spent her younger years working hard and riding tractors. She later married Howard McGrath, and together they were blessed with seven children.
Mary Lou dedicated many years of her life working as a cook at the Pocola Nursing Home before retiring. She found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished her trips to town with Mary Jo. She was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Terry McGrath, Kyle McGrath and Rodger McGrath; two grandchildren; two sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Jo Anno and husband James, Wanda Wicks, Zelda Mecom; son, Carroll McGrath; her grandchildren, Brandi Clayton and fiancé Caleb Myers, and Wesley Ray and wife Amber; her great-grandchildren, Mayah, Kaisyn, Ariah, Malikai, Avery, and Lucas; three brothers, along with numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
