Mary Ruth Clay, 85, of Poteau, OK, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018, in Poteau.

 

Mary was born October 31, 1932, in Williams, OK, to Wiley Horatio and Ida Ella (Victor) Butler.

 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Cloyis W. Clay, brother-in-law Troy Riddle of Blanchard, OK, niece Debbie Riddle Mudd of Chanute, KS, and nephew Billy Wade Butler of Vancouver, WA. Also preceding her in death were her brothers and sisters: Mildred Covey of Baytown, TX, Muriel Gould of Dearford, MI, Arthur Butler of Pontiac, MI, Fred Butler of Lancing, MI, Jimmy Wade Butler of Poteau, OK, and Billy Butler of Williams, OK.


Mary was a member of Southside Baptist Church and had retired from Poteau Public Schools.

 

Survivors include Mary’s daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Mike Mixon of Poteau, grandson Dr. Devin Wade Griffith of Houston, TX, sister-in-law Nancy Butler of Poteau, and other relatives, loved ones, and friends.

 

Services will be held at Southside Baptist Church on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 2 PM. with Rev. Jim Reed and Rev. Jim Cook officiating.

 

Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Poteau.

 

Pallbearers will be Keith Henson, Carol Hale, Todd Peters, Jim Fesperman, Jeff Smith, Jim Seale, and Olan Arnall. Honorary pallbearers will be Devin Griffith, Mike Mixon, Jim Mixon, and Mark Mixon.
