Funeral Service for Merrell Pettigrew, 98 of Spiro, Oklahoma will be at 11am on Friday June 10, 2022 at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro, Oklahoma with Pastor Dakota Bunch officiating. Burial will be held at 1pm at the United States National Cemetery in Ft. Smith, Arkansas under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Spiro, Oklahoma. Viewing will be Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 9am - 7pm with family greeting friends from 5pm - 7pm at the funeral home.He was born on March 8, 1924 in Paris, Arkansas to Novie (Nichols) and General Sherman Pettigrew and passed away on June 7, 2022 in Gore, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 64 years, Mable Marie Pettigrew; sisters, Neoma, Dorothy, Minnie, Bonnie; brother, Gene, and great grandson, Chase. Merell was a World War II Army Veteran. He enjoyed his cattle, riding horses, riding 4-wheelers, and gardening. Most of all he was a family man that loved his family dearly.Survivors include his two daughters, Mattie May Bunch, Sharon Janeice Beard; three sons, Donnie Pettigrew and wife Melissa, Larry Pettigrew and wife Helen, Kenny Pettigrew and wife Barbara; sister, Cora Grantham; brothers, Wayne Pettigrew, Tom Pettigrew; numerous grand children, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, other relatives and loved ones.Pallbearers will be; Kevin Pettigrew, David Pettigrew, Dwayne Jeremiah, Brian Wilson, Michael Pettigrew, Isaac Monks, Charlie Bunch, Dalton Bunch, Devin Jeremiah, Dylan Jeremiah, Levi Pettigrew, Randy Bunch, Nathan Bunch, Tim Bunch, Richard Bunch, and Garon McClure.You may leave an online message at mallorymartinfuneralhome.com.
