Mr. Roy Gordon better known as “Geno” was born on September 14, 1937 to the late Abraham and Clara Gordon. Roy departed this life on December 4, 2020. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mrs. Lorece Triplett Gordon. To this union were born two sons, Roy Gordon, Jr. and Tracy Gordon.

Mr. Roy Gordon served in the U.S. Army, he retired as Sergeant First Class. He also worked for Whirlpool for 37 years as a tool and die maker from which he retired also.

Roy accepted Christ at an early age becoming a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. During his time at Union he served as an Usher and Chairman of the Deacon Board. Brother Gordon loved his church and his church family and would do anything he could to help them.

Geno was a family man, He loved his wife, sons, grandchildren, and his entire family. Usually when you saw the Mr. you also saw the Mrs. and they would be both sharing a contagious smile. Geno would make sure he made every family event near or far. Brother Gordon could run the family line down and tell you years of family history.

Mr. Gordon, was the founder of The Gordon Youth Foundation, which he founded in 2007. He was dedicated to the foundation, as it was the stepping stone to helping the community, which was one of his many focuses. Mr. Gordon loved giving back to the community by being able to give scholarships to students helping them attend college to have a better chance in life.

Mr. Gordon had his hand in many organizations, City of Pocola (Vice Mayor), Union Baptist Church (Deacon), Prince Hall Grand Lodge (District Deputy), Child Advocacy (Board Member), Boys and Girls Club of LeFlore County (Board Member), Kibois Community Action (Board Member), United Supreme Council (33rd Degree), Heroines of Jericho (Deputy Grand Joshua), HIRA Temple (#116 Muskogee, OK), and Pocola ISD (School Board President).

Roy is survived by his lovely wife, Lorece Gordon of the home; sons, Roy Gordon, Jr. of Pocola, OK, Tracy Gordon (Dominque) of Norman, OK; grandchildren, Pharrell Gordon of Houston, TX, Jason, Trinity, Mia, Mattie Gordon all of Norman, OK; sisters, Mildred Brown of Columbia, MO, Gladys Heath (RG) of Pocola, OK, Pearl Leachmon of Des Moines, IA, Reola Gordon of Denver, CO; brother, Richard Allen of Fort Worth, TX; a very special nephew Kendall Triplett, nieces, nephews, and many other loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Cunningham Gordon; birth parents, Abraham and Clara Gordon; brothers, Clarence and Frank Williams.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, December 11, 2020 at the United States National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
