Joyce was born on February 6, 1942, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Andrew and Dimple Rogers. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her brother, Ronald Rogers.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Tonia Atkins of Texas, Denise Jones of Texas, and Robert Meier of Arkansas; five grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
Joyce was a devoted Christian whose faith was the foundation of her life. She loved the Lord deeply and faithfully prayed for everyone around her. Her family knew they could always count on her prayers, her encouragement, and her steadfast love.
Throughout her life, Joyce was known for her strong work ethic. Early in her career, she worked as a laboratory technician at the potash mine in Carlsbad, New Mexico. After retiring, she returned to Oklahoma, where she spent the rest of her years surrounded by her parents, family, and the community she loved.
Joyce found great joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved to read and could often be found with a good book in hand. She had a passion for gardening, especially planting and tending beautiful flowers that brightened her home and yard. She also enjoyed painting, with nature scenes being among her favorite subjects. Whether through her gardens, her artwork, or the many prayers she offered for others, Joyce had a gentle way of bringing beauty and peace into the lives of those around her.
Joyce will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family, her hardworking spirit, and the kindness she extended to others. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched through her prayers, her love, and her example of quiet strength.
The Celebration of Life Services for Joyce will be held at 11am, Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Avenue Poteau, Oklahoma with Rev Bryan Fouts officiating. Private family burial was held at an earlier date in Old Bokoshe Cemetery.
