Nora Faye Lum, 86, of Poteau, OK passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 in Ft. Smith AR. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Hansford and Lela Jenson, her brother, Jerry Jenson, and her husband, Thomas Lum.

Nora Faye was born October 31, 1931 near Poteau, OK to Lela and Hansford Jenson. She graduated from Poteau High School in 1949 and attended Poteau Junior College before graduating, Summa Cum Laude, with a Master’s degree from Abilene Christian College. Nora Faye married Thomas V. Lum in 1953.

She worked as a teacher then later worked for many years in real estate. Nora Faye enjoyed crafting, quilting, oil painting, bird watching, gardening, and everything...all the time. She was an active member of the Poteau Church of Christ for many years. She had a life-long commitment to God and the work of his Kingdom, and it showed in her life. She walked the walk better than she talked the talk.

She was kind, loving, caring, and compassionate to anyone she met, regardless of their circumstances or any disagreements they may have had. If she ever had a bad day, you didn’t know about it. She was truly the happiest when she was serving others...or working in the flower bed...or cooking. She was a friend to too many to count in the Church and the community.

It could be said that one’s worth here on earth can be most easily measured by how much they are missed when they leave, and Nora Faye’s absence will most certainly be felt in this Church, community, and family.

Nora Faye would undoubtedly say that her greatest accomplishment was her family. She is survived by her 3 sons & daughters in law, Randal & Mia Lum, Ronald & Sandra Lum all of Poteau, OK, Michael & Lori Lum of Weatherford, TX; 8 grandchildren, Miranda, Cody, Jeffrey, Jerod, Justin, Johnathan, Kyler, and Jason; and 10 great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law and nephew, Susan and Andrew Jenson, as well as countless other relatives and friends.

Services were held, Thursday, April 19, 2018 at The Poteau Church of Christ with Michael Lum and Donald Cherry officiating.

Interment followed at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, OK.

Pallbearers were Jeffrey, Jerod, Justin, Cody, Johnathan, Kyler, and Jason Lum and Andrew Jenson. Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Estes and Wes Pickle.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Southern Christian Home, 100 W. Harding St., Morrilton, AR 72110.
