Graveside Service for Oma Jean Hall, 98 of Poteau, Oklahoma will be at 10:00am on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion in Poteau, Oklahoma with Jim Cook officiating. Services are under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma. Viewing and Visitation will be Wednesday from 9am- 7pm with the family greeting friends from 5pm - 7pm at the funeral home.
 
Oma was born on December 7, 1925 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Tulu (Costner) Himes and Omer Himes and passed away on May 12, 2024 in Heavener, Oklahoma. Growing up on a farm outside of Heavener, she would ride in a wagon to town to get supplies for the farm. After high school she worked for the Superintendent of the Poteau School. A friend of hers talked her into writing a gentleman in the Navy. Upon his return from World War II, Bobby proposed to Oma and they married in 1945. They built a home in Poteau where they raised James and Kitty. When the children reached high school, Oma went back to school to receive her Bachelors in Education. She taught elementary school for 12 years. Bobby and Oma bought the Napa auto parts store, Oma retired from teaching to do the accounting for the business. After Bobby's death in 2001 she took care of the farm until  she wasn't able to. Oma was a very independent and strong woman always taking care of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Hall; grandson, Jason Friesen; sisters, Hilda Luce and Eunice Himes
 
Survivors include her son, James Hall of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter, Kitty Friesen of Fort Worth, Texas.
