Phyllis Vaughn, 81, of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 In Oklahoma City. Phyllis was born December 15, 1939 in Colony, OK to Russell J & Naomi F. (Dunn) Chody.
She was a graduate of Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City.
She was employed at the OKC Board of Education for many years; and at Carl Albert Jr. College until she retired in 2003.
She was a pastor’s wife and a music minister.
She was preceded in death by her husband, “Dickie” Lee Vaughn; her parents; 2 brothers & 1 sister; stepson, Mike Vaughn and granddaughter, Amy Kerr.
Survivors include her children, Rebecca Wise & husband Mike of Moore, OK, David Adkisson & wife Toni of Eufaula, OK, Joel Adkisson & wife Candice of Sapulpa, OK, James Vaughn & wife Kellie of Poteau, OK, Beverly Bain of Poteau, OK; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be 2 pm, Monday, September 27, 2021 at Mt. View Baptist Church in Glendale, OK with Tim Trent officiating. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1-5 on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
