Funeral Service for Reverend Eldon McDowell, 93 of Spiro, Oklahoma will be at 2:00pm on Monday, July 3, 2023 at the Murry Spur Freewill Baptist Church in Spiro, Oklahoma with Reverend Lee Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, Oklahoma under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 2pm to 4pm at the funeral home.
Eldon was born on February 17, 1930 in Wetumka, OK to Lucinda Elizabeth (Rogers) McDowell and Thomas Ira McDowell and passed away on June 29, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Cynthia, Lois, Ruth, and Mildred; Brothers P.F.C Elva McDowell, and Edsel McDowell.
Eldon was a minister in the Church of God General Conference where he pastored for 3 years at the Fairview Church of God in Tecumseh, OK, he then pastored the Church of God at Natural Dam, AR for 35 years until retiring due to health concerns. Eldon also retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 32 years of employment. He was a member of the 45th Division Oklahoma National Guard from 1948 to 1950.
Survivors include Daughter Sharon Kay Czarnikow and husband Glen; Son Allen McDowell and wife DeAnn; 3 Grandsons Allen Czarnikow and wife Courtney, Douglas Pearce and wife Jessica, and Sammy McDowell; 9 Great Grandchildren; Sister Wilma Dyer and husband Don; other family, loved ones, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Doug Pearce, Sammy McDowell, Ethan Pearce, Bubba Conrad, Cody Hale, and William Price..
