Funeral Service for Rex Leon McDonald, 63 of Cameron, Oklahoma will be at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Grace Memorial Chapel in Poteau, Oklahoma with Reverend Phil McGehee officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Cameron, Oklahoma under the direction of Grace Funeral Service of Poteau, Oklahoma.
He was born on October 2, 1959 in Cameron, Oklahoma to Betty Jean (Walls) Claunts and Rex Leon McDonald, Sr. and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 24, 2023. Rex was preceded in death by his father; Rex Leon McDonald, Sr.; mother, Betty Jean Claunts; and sister, Carolyn Niblett. He enjoyed working on old vehicles and spending time helping his family and friends. Rex loved hunting and fishing when he got the time to go. His favorite spot was his front door watching the deer out in the field just waiting on a big buck to come out. He enjoyed going down to Eugene Tucker’s and listening to him, Troy, Jake, and Roger bicker back and forth, he sure did get a kick out of them. Rex loved spending time with his grandson. He was a hard worker and always provided for his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Paige Cannon and husband Dustin; son, Luke McDonald; sisters, Phyllis Brown and husband Larry, Donna Bailey and husband Allen, Rosemary McDonald, Marilyn Jiles, Joann Green and husband Danny; brother, Gary Wayne McDonald; grandson, Triston Cannon, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Tucker, Roger Prescott, Phillip Roberts, Walter Watts, Gary Scyrkels,and Petit Ford. Honorary Pallbearers will be Allen Bailey, Jack Nibblett, Carl Anderson, Gary McDonald, Troy Halpain, Nathan Fox, Steve Stevens, and Mike Gibson.
Viewing will be Monday, February 27, 2023 from 9am- 8pm with the family greeting friends from 6pm-8pm at the funeral home.
