Richard Ernest Harriman, first born to Robert Junior and Mary Ann Harriman on June 2, 1958, in Berlin, New Hampshire went home to be with his lord on December 27th, 2025.
Husband, Father, Grampy, Richard was the cornerstone for a family in which he led with great honor. He instilled in us a legacy of moral values, servant hood, and true love that always carried family before self. He loved us all dearly and is leaving us with so many precious memories.
Richard had a heart for those in need and served his community and nation. He devoted much of his life to upholding the moral values of the law and did so with honor and integrity.
Richard received a B.A. in Law Enforcement Administration and completed coursework toward a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma. He spent over 35 years in law enforcement, serving in many roles such as patrolman, detective, Crime Scene Investigator, probation and parole officer, deputy sheriff, police chief, and 911 dispatcher. He also served as city manager and had many entrepreneurial endeavors which included video store owner, auction house owner, private investigative agency, and an online business. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he traveled the world. He was honorably discharged in 1980.
Richard was a member of the Oklahoma Private Investigators Association and served as 1st Vice President. His law enforcement background earned him a position on the Criminal Justice Advisory Board for Vatterott College. He also contributed to his church by leading the youth group and serving as lay speaker.
His hobbies included camping, fishing, numismatics, reloading ammunition, shooting at the gun range, and attending gun shows.
Those who knew him could see his heart in helping and caring for others. His precious grandson, Jonah, summed him up well as he said goodbye, “You fought a good fight Grampy, and you fought for the right side.”
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Sue Frizzell and Ruth Packer, brothers Robert (Bobbie) Harriman, Leon Harriman, and Christopher Harriman, and nephew Johnnie Frizzell.
He is survived by his wife and soulmate Brenda Harriman, daughters Sharina (Billy) Martindale and Ashley (Eric) Stoltz, sister Lena (John) Boucher, grandchildren Brayden Norton, Dylan (Hannah) Emmert, Landon Stoltz, Keirsten Martindale, Isaiah Stoltz, and Jonah Martindale, great grandson Waylon Norton, and cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Richard is home with the Lord now. God has prepared a place; his waiting is over. Our hurt is only for a little while for we shall receive his loving arms again.
The Celebration of Life Services for Richard are planned and will be held privately by his family and close friends. The Family of Richard Harriman would like to thank all that have called, sent texts, and have expressed love to them during this very difficult time.
