Richard “Gene” Pottridge of Howe, Oklahoma was born on August 1, 1933 in Bates, Arkansas to Ed and Talitha (Thompson) Pottridge and passed away surrounded by his family on September 26, 2020 in Howe, Oklahoma at the age of 87.
He is survived by:

Twyla Maxwell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Shirley Brothers of Plainview, Arkansas
Gary Pottridge of Bates, Arkansas
Julie Anna Walsh and husband Donny of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
William, Bennett, and Gibson Eugene Walsh of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
Numerous other relatives, cousins, and dear friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Talitha Pottridge; his wife, Joy Ann (Bennett) Pottridge; his siblings, Leon Pottridge, Betty Stafford, Peggy Bennett, Doss Pottridge, and Linda Hill.
Gene was a long-time resident of the area, a member of the Heavener First Baptist Church, a retired telephone Lineman for the Holts Allied, Alltel & Windstream Company, and a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the U.S. Army. Gene was also a member of the Heavener Masonic Lodge #154. He loved gardening, fishing, hunting, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals, OKC Thunder, Oklahoma Sooners, and the Arkansas Razorbacks with Janee. Gene was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener, Oklahoma with Pastor Bobby Cagle and Pastor Cody Nix officiating. Cremation arrangements will follow under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be: Buck Hunt, Billy Wilson, Justin Lewis, Jason Pottridge, Seth Pottridge, Doug Hill, Curtis Howze, Rich Hankins, Jeff Bennett, Dewayne Thompson, and Donny Walsh.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Paul Brothers, Gene Hill, Gary Pottridge, Scott Thompson, Ricky Maxwell, Robert Maxwell, Ronny Thompson, Blaine Manifold, Jason Manifold, Ronald Owen Bennett, and all his great-grandchildren, and all of the Phone Company Boys.
Viewing will be from 8:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m., with the family visiting with friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
