Funeral Service for Russell Lain Slone, 52 of Wister, Oklahoma will be at 2:00pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Bethel Baptist Church in Wister, Oklahoma with Cody McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View / Glendale Cemetery in Wister, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
Russell was born on November 4, 1971 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Saundra (Caudell) Conley and Ronald Eugene Slone and passed away in his loving home on August 17, 2024 in Wister, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father Gene Slone, dad Randy Conley, and grandparents Doc and Jewell Slone, Willie and Johnnie Caudell, Raymond and Lena Goodwin.
Survivors include his mother Saundra Conley and companion Roy Nix; sisters Misty Rogers and husband Shawn of Fort Smith, AR, Randi Hall and husband Jereme of Wister, OK, Tanna McAlester and husband James of Wister, OK; nieces and nephews Connar Hall and wife Kloee, Chanlor Hall, Lorena Hall, Callen Hall, Cannon Hall, Kobe Rogers, Shawn Rogers, and Autumn Rogers; Numerous great nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, loved ones, and friends.
Russell attended Talihina High School, after graduating he began working for Kibois and worked in varies jobs for many years. He loved country music, his favorites were Garth Brooks and George Strait, sometimes he would refer to himself as Russell Strait. Russell never met a stranger and he would never forget your name. He loved social gathers including dances, family gatherings and the Special Olympics. Russell was a very special person to many people, especially his family.
Pallbearers will be Derek Brewer, Thomas Slone, Joey Loggains, Jereme Hall, Connar Hall, and Chanlor Hall.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dustin Loggains, James McAlester, and Shawn Rogers.
