Shelley Jones left this world as she lived in it—on her own terms and with a healthy dose of stubbornness. Known for her sharp tongue, unwavering opinions, and the particular way she liked things done, Shelley was nothing if not consistent. She could be blunt, she could be prickly, and she never pretended to be anything other than exactly who she was.

Shelley is survived by her sisters, Sandra Macom and Marsha Woodard, who knew better than anyone how to handle her unique brand of honesty, along with her brother-in-law Charles Macom, who earned a special kind of patience badge over the years. Her niece Keelie Thompson, husband AJ Thompson, and their daughter Kinzley Thompson will remember her in their own ways—some memories sweeter than others, but all part of Shelley’s unmistakable presence. She is also survived by her nephew Kolby Allphin, his wife Ravyn Allphin, and their children Riverlyn and Dakota Allphin, who brought moments of light even when Shelley acted like she didn’t want to smile.

Shelley is preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Sue Allphin, and her niece Michelle Macom. She spoke of them often—sometimes fondly, sometimes with that familiar edge—but always with love buried beneath the gruff exterior.

While she may not have been the warmest or softest soul, Shelley was real. You always knew where you stood with her, and she never pretended to be anything she wasn’t. In a world full of polite small talk and sugarcoated conversations, her honesty—however sharp—was uniquely hers.

May she rest in peace, knowing she was loved for who she was.

The Celebration of Life Services for Shelley are pending at this point and will be updated when finalized.
