Shirley J Carman, 86, passed away on December 8, 2024, in Spiro, Oklahoma with her family at her side. Shirley was born on September 12, 1938, in Shady Point, Oklahoma to parents Paul and Claudie (Wilson) Walker. Shirley and her husband owned and operated Carman’s Greenhouse and Nursery in Monroe, Oklahoma for over 20 years. Shirley was a faithful member at Oasis Community Church. Shirley loved to crochet and bird watch in her free time, but most of all, she loved spending quality time with her family. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Carman, her 2 sisters, and 1 brother.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Susan McDowell and husband Marty, Shelly Conrady, Claudia Vinson, and Sandy Carter and husband James, her sons Todd Peters and wife Michele and James Carman, her grandchildren Mandi Purdum and husband Dan, Corey Conrady and wife Megan, Jamie Lee and husband Nathan, Andy Vanhorst and wife Crystal, Lisa Minor and husband Devon, and Leah Montgomery and husband Robbie, her great grandchildren Addison, Owen, Archer, Ava, Abram, Jaxon, Cayton, Easton, Hudson, Thatcher, Tucker, and Teddy, along with many other relatives and loved ones.
The Celebration of Life Services for Shirley will be held 1pm – Thursday, December 12, 2024, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma with Pastor Clyde Hess and Pastor Nick Hess officiating and burial to follow at Shady Point Cemetery in Shady Point, Oklahoma. The Family of Shirley Carman will meet and greet friends from 6pm – 8pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, also at The Cedars on Dewey. Casket bearers will be Leah Montgomery, Lisa Minor, Robbie Montgomery, Devon Minor, and Nick Hess.
