Graveside Service for Shirley Mae Kilgore-Calhoon, 83 of McAllen, Texas will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion in Poteau, Oklahoma with Brother Earl Cobb officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Grace Funeral Service in Poteau, Oklahoma.

She was born on May 29, 1938 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Pearl Margaret (Hammers) Duncan and Paul Jackson Duncan and passed away peacefully with her family at her side on January 24, 2022 in McAllen, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Paul Eugene Duncan. She graduated from Poteau High School, played the French Horn in the marching band and was a Honor Roll Student. She lived in Tulsa many years where she was a member of Harvard Baptist Church. She relocated to the Rio Grande Valley in 1978. She worked for Warner Lambert as a sales rep for over 20 years where she met many good lifetime friends. She enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. to attend car races, with then husband,George J. Calhoon Jr. Her two grandchildren, John Cody & Cora were the light of her life. She also enjoyed going to Las Vegas & Louisiana to play slot machines with family & friends… She enjoyed attending Bible Study via phone with her son & daughter-in law from Oklahoma.

Survivors include: a son John Paul Kilgore and wife Jennifer of Braggs, Oklahoma: a daughter Paula Kilgore-Admire and husband Terry of McAllen, Texas; grandchildren John Cody Kilgore of Reno , Nevada and Cora Gay Admire of McAllen, Texas; a sister-in-law Glenda Duncan of Stillwater, Oklahoma, niece Kelley Meyers and husband Steve (3 sons Luke, Trey, and Jace) of Perkins, Oklahoma. Nephew Kevin Duncan and wife Casey of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Active pallbearers will be John Cody Kilgore, Kevin Duncan, Ted Kilgore, Leland Kilgore, Terry Admire, and Keith Drake.

Viewing will be Saturday 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM with family greeting friends from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
