Stephen Mark Simmons of Poteau, Oklahoma (formerly of Heavener, Oklahoma) was born January 1, 1954 in Poteau, Oklahoma to James and Kathleen (Hornbuckle) Simmons and passed away on February 24, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 67.

Kathy Forehand of Heavener, Oklahoma
Two brothers:
Gary Ollie and wife Kay of Poteau, Oklahoma
Jimmy Simmons and wife Sharon of Poteau, Oklahoma
Five grandchildren:
Jackson Simmons, Henry Simmons, Lincoln Simmons, Legend Vanhook, and Madeleine Vanhook
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends whom loved him very much
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Kathleen Simmons; and a son, James Simmons.
Mark was a longtime resident of the area and a heavy equipment operator in construction. He was a 1972 graduate of Heavener High School and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Mark will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m., Monday, March 1, 2021 at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be: David Ollie, Bryan Ollie, Shane Simmons, Cody Terry, Bruiser Forehand, and Bradley Simmons.
Viewing will be from Noon until 6 p.m., Saturday; Noon until 6 p.m., Sunday; and 9:00 a.m. until service time, Monday at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
