Steven Lee “Gabby” Beason, 67, passed away on January 2, 2025, at his home in Wister, Oklahoma. Steven “Gabby” was born on October 29, 1957, in Stockton, California to parents Billy Joe and Patricia Ann (Powell) Beason Sr. Gabby was of the Baptist faith. To say Gabby loved the outdoors would be an understatement. He could usually be found tinkering outside with something or manicuring his lawn. Gabby was very proud of his Cherokee heritage. Gabby was a friend to many and never met a stranger, hence his nickname Gabby. Gabby was preceded in death by his parents.

Gabby is survived by his siblings Billy “Krout” Beason and wife Darlene of Wister, Oklahoma, Rickey Beason of Wister, Oklahoma, Sherri Smith and husband Jeff of Poteau, Oklahoma, Traci Bethell of Wister, Oklahoma, and Kelly Turnipseed and husband Shain of Wister, Oklahoma, his special friends Gary Pierson of Howe, Oklahoma and Mary Kovar of Poteau, Oklahoma, along with numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life Services for Gabby will be held 2pm – Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma with Pastor Gene Heflin and Jeff Smith officiating and burial to follow at Mountainview/Glendale Cemetery in Glendale, Oklahoma. The Family of Gabby Beason will meet and greet friends from 6pm – 8pm on Monday, January 6, 2025, also at The Cedars on Dewey. Casket bearers will be Cody Kimble, Daniel Kimble, Gary Beason, Gregory Smith Jr, Colby Turnipseed, and Easton Turnipseed. Honorary Casket bearers will be Dan Cook, DP Robertson, Gary Pierson, Joey Chilcote, and Mike Turnipseed.
