Ted is survived by:
His wife: Nina Bowen of the home
One son: Quinton Bowen and wife Autumn of Poteau, Oklahoma
Two step-sons: Jack Sizemore of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and Ben Sizemore of Poteau, Oklahoma
Three sisters: Elaine Adams of Barling, Arkansas; Kay Underwood and husband Wayne of Pocola, Oklahoma; Mary Howard and husband Floyd of Pocola, Oklahoma
One brother: Denver Bowen of Lequire, Oklahoma
Three grandchildren: Emily Bowen, Trevor Bowen, and Ethan Bowen
Six bonus-grandchildren: Phillip, Max, Hutton, Sawyer, Rosie, and Luca
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Daniel and Winnie Elizabeth Bowen; his first wife, Deleca Bowen; one brother, Danny Bowen; two sisters-in-law, Nellie Bowen and Trudy Bowen.
Ted was a longtime resident of the area and the owner/operator of Bowen Dirt Works. He was a devoted member of the Poteau Church of Christ. Known for his generosity and kindness, Ted was a larger-than-life presence with robust opinions, a strong work ethic, and ambitious plans for his son, Quinton. His absence leaves a significant void in the lives of all who knew him. Ted cherished the outdoors and valued time spent with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Ted’s funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at the Poteau Church of Christ with Pastor Denver Bowen, Mr. Paul Williams, and Mr. Steve Breedlove officiating. Burial will follow in the Hall Cemetery under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Cremation Center of Poteau, Oklahoma. “LeFlore County’s only on-site crematory”
Pallbearers will be: Quinton Bowen, Derek Bowen, Jason Underwood, Lynn Fisher, Sam Abbott, and Freddy Hogrefe.
Viewing will be from Noon until 7:00 p.m., Monday. The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
