Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Poteau United Methodist Church in Poteau, Oklahoma, with Susan Whitley officiating. Burial will follow at Ellis Chapel Cemetery in Wister, Oklahoma, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home. Viewing and Visitation will be Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 9am – 7pm with the family greeting friends from 5pm – 7pm at the funeral home.
Bockey was born January 19, 1933, in Wister, Oklahoma, to Lucille (Wileman) Martin and Willie Kyle Martin. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a man deeply devoted to his family, faith, and community.
He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he worked as a Telegraph Operator. Following his military service, Bockey worked on the railroad for 16 years and later dedicated 27 years of service to Wister First State Bank. He also served his community as chairman of the Summerfield Water Board for 10 years.
A faithful member of Poteau United Methodist Church, Bockey was also a dedicated member of the Poteau Masonic Lodge #46, achieving the distinction of Master Mason and maintaining over 50 years of membership. He lived a life marked by integrity, service, and quiet strength.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Patricia Sue Martin; his daughter, Della Haynes; his sisters, Billye Caudell, Ina Ruth Vaughn, and Claryene Rowzee; and his brother, Robert Martin.
Survivors include his daughter, Peggy Adams and husband Johnie; daughter/granddaughter, Sarah Colwell and husband Scottie; grandchildren, Matthew Haynes and wife Jana, Luke Adams and wife Teasha, Nathan Haynes, Suerene Freeman and husband Jamie, and Della Adams and husband Tiago Espirito Santo; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Francis Cupp; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and loved ones who will cherish his memory.
Pallbearers will be Greg Free, Johnnie Paul Free, Mike Young, Bud Morgan, Tiago Espirito Santo, Stanley Caudell, Scottie Colwell, and Lane Dyer.
