Thomas Dwayne Pierson, 63, of Bokoshe, Oklahoma, passed away on June 29, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on May 1, 1962, in Altoona, Iowa, to Vesta Lucille (Gard) Pierson and Norman Pierson.
Tom was the third child of Norman and Lucy Pierson. He graduated from Tri-Center School in 1980 and moved to Oklahoma City in 1981 with his brother Tim. He began his career sacking groceries but quickly worked his way up the ladder, eventually becoming a Supervisor at Coca-Cola, where he dedicated 25 years of service before retiring.
A true All-American outdoorsman, Tom lived for the simple joys—nature, good company, and football. If the Oklahoma Sooners or Dallas Cowboys were playing, you knew better than to try and reach him. Fiercely protective of his family, Tom had a zero-tolerance policy for anyone who threatened those he loved.
Some of Tom’s most cherished memories were the many road trips he took with his dad, just the two of them. Their adventures were legendary, with no road or path left unexplored. Tom was deeply loved by two “bonus families”: the George Soppee family of Neola, Iowa, and the Gerry Vick family of Stilwell, Oklahoma. Tom and his best friend Gerry were a dynamic comedic duo, whose presence could light up a room and leave everyone laughing for hours. He was also blessed with a close, lifelong friendship with Andy Gilbraith, a bond both cherished.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother, Harold Norman Pierson; and his best friend, Gerry Vick.
He is survived by his brothers Tim Pierson and wife Marilyn, and Terry Pierson and wife Hope; nieces and nephews Keith, Krysten, Kyle and wife Jasmine, Zachary, Alexander and wife Emily, and Rachel Pierson; great-niece and nephew Kameron and Kennedi Pierson; along with many other relatives, friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by his generosity and fierce loyalty.
Tom had a big heart and lived with purpose, defending the vulnerable, giving freely, and loving deeply.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, Oklahoma, with Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Pat’s Cemetery in Neola, Iowa, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
