Thomas Eugene Upchurch, born December 16, 1959, passed from this life surrounded by friends and family on March 15, 2023. He was known as Thomas, Wolf, Tom, Tommy, Uncle Tom, Pops, Tumus, he was a special person to so many people. You might first relate to the song" Simple Man" for Tom, he didn't care much for material things. But, if you knew Tom, you knew a much broader person, dirty hands & a clean heart, simple clothes & a precious soul, friends always first, intelligent, he lived life.
Tom lived a broad life, he rode the Huey's and played with the bigguns in service to his country in the Army National Guard. A craftsman by trade, he WAS the true "Jack of All Trades" when it came to a carpenter, he could fix anything. And late in the evening not only could he work on the space shuttle, he could fly it and he always had a crew to go with him. But with alt things laid aside, he was a Rancher by heart. His true work passion was his ranch life, working with the cattle, the hay, the pastures and alt things associated. His last several years were on the W2 Ranch, the place he loved so dearly, the place he chose to not only spend his last living time but as well as where his ashes will be thrown. A "Celebration of Life" will be determined at a later date.
Tom's special place in so many people's hearts was so evident during his last few weeks. The last day he was totally surrounded by so many friends who stayed all day upon hearing of his pending fate. The tributes have been totally numerous and so touching that he would be truly honored. The Rancher, Brother, Grandpa, Uncle, Friend, the Man with the Simple Life, loved by so many, will be missed but remembered forever in our hearts.
Survivors include his niece, Maudie Burks and Jammy; daughter, Crystal Upchurch; niece, Nora Upchurch; nephew, Randall Davis; brother & sister, Ricky and Trina Ward; numerous other relatives, and loved ones.
