Trina LaRae (Berryhill) McCoy

At her best Trina was funny, charismatic, entertaining and she never met a stranger. She loved to socialize and travel. Her adventures took her as far off as California and Hawaii but she always found her way back home to Oklahoma. Trina had a childlike spirit and often times was the life of the party. She worked primarily as a nurse’s aide in home health and nursing homes. She had a spark that was infectious and a knack for making her patients and everyone around her feel loved.

She loved her family and friends, spending quality time with them as often as possible. If not face to face, then it was telephone time. She and her “sister Aunts” loved quoting lines from her favorite movie “Steel Magnolias” and referring to one another as characters from the film. Their parting words often were, “You know I love you more than my luggage.” Trina was raised by a single mom and her maternal grandmother amongst her 10 aunts and uncles who felt to everyone involved more like siblings. They all remained close throughout her life.

Trina was 20 plus years older than her brother Mark McBride. She frequently took him on adventurous trips to the local pool, parks, and fairgrounds. At Halloween she would take him trick or treating. She was a loving sister throughout his childhood and later a fun aunt to her nephews and nieces. Sleep overs with aunt Trina were guaranteed fun and often consisted of home cooking, movies, music and dancing. One way or the other everyone was having a blast.

Trina and Danny McCoy met in the 80’s and were married for 24 years. They recently divorced but their friendship and love remained. Danny was always there when she needed him and by her side until the end.

Trina is survived by her brother Mark McBride of Poteau, OK, friend and ex-husband Danny McCoy of Poteau, OK, cousin Becky McBride of Poteau, OK, daughter Melissa Schultz of Missouri, uncle Don Chumley of Durant, OK, aunt Juanita Little of Michigan, 2 grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Imogene McBride, step-father Myrtle L. McBride Jr, father Clyde Berryhill, maternal grandmother Mable Chumley, Aunts; Reba Berryhill, Chock Miller, Donie Tom, Fern Bomer, Florine Gordon, Uncles Troy and Pete Chumley.
