Graveside Service for Vernon Ritter, 79 of Spiro, Oklahoma will be at 10:00am on Friday, August 4, 2023 at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, Oklahoma with Sister Debbie Wegert officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro, Oklahoma
Vernon was born on February 6, 1944 in McCurtain, Oklahoma to Lola Maxine (Thompson) and Lee Ollie Ritter and passed away on July 30, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by two wives, Lavern Barber and Doris Ritter; and his son, Johnny Bob Gleason; four sisters, Mary Louise Elam, Cleta Asher, Shirley Ritter, and Kelly Joe Kelly; and one brother Curtis Ritter. Vernon loved hunting and fishing and he retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad. He also owned and operated Ritter Concrete Company with his brother, Jake for many years.
Survivors include daughter, Paula Ritter; his companion, Tina Nolen; sisters, Sylvia Mae Boitel and Annette Brown; brothers, Jake Ritter and Raymond Leon Ritter; grandchildren, Brandi Branscum, Garrett Gleason, and Braden Gleason; great grandchild, Lionel Shelton; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
