Vicey James of Keota, Oklahoma was born October 20, 1921 in Keota, Oklahoma to Charles Mac and Artemissa (Takkubbee) James and passed away May 31, 2017 in Stigler, Oklahoma at the age of 95.

She is survived by;
One sister:
Lisa James of Keota, Oklahoma
One brother:
Lee James of Keota, Oklahoma
Nieces: Wanda Leach, Tanya Leach, Mary James, Hellen Blankenship, and
an extra special niece, Artemissa Gail James-Colwell

Nephews; Kyle Leach, Gary Leach, Chris Smith, and Caleb Killough

Her Best Buddy; Cooper Jaxon James, and Case Reid Colwell of the home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Daniel James; four sisters, Dora Mae Cass, Katherine Ida Shoop, Inez Juanita James and Della Ruth James.

She was born and raised on her family Choctaw allotment in Rockford Community.


She is Full Blood Choctaw, and fluent in the language.


She worked in spinach beans and cotton fields. Vicey later worked at the Stigler Cannery & Poteau Carpet Mill; she was a baptized believer & member of New Hope Indian Baptist Church.


She had no children but raised her nieces. She enjoyed her family and friends.


Funeral Service will be 11 am Friday, June 2, 2017 at Mallory Chapel with Rev. Dixon Lewis Jr. and Craig Whitekiller officiating.


Burial will follow in Simon Issac Cemetery under the direction of the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory of Stigler.

Pallbearers will be; Craig Whitekiller, Kevin Jackson, Kyle Jackson, Ron Perry, Hugo Toribio, Jack Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be;Santiago Torbio, Phillip Leach, Ted Bunn, and Jacob Colwell.


Viewing will be at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Stigler on; Wed 3-8pm and Thurs. 8-8pm
