William Donald “Will” Newnam, 18, passed away on December 7, 2024. William was born on July 19, 2006, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to parents Michael and Tanya Annette (Tackett) Newnam. Will was a young and energetic Poteau High School senior that loved life. He was active in sports and loved wrestling. A competitor at heart, whether it was sports or gaming, he always competed to be the best at everything, as well as anything he put his mind to. Will also shared a love for cars with his dad and grandfather Bill. Will is preceded in death by his mother Tanya Newnam, his grandmother Sue Newnam, and his grandfather Norman Tackett.

Will is survived by his father Mike Newnam and wife Sherri of Poteau, Oklahoma, his siblings Dereck Landrum and wife Jessica of Panama, Oklahoma, Jacob Newnam and wife Courtney of McAlester, Oklahoma, Blake Tackett and wife Amanda of Searcy, Arkansas, Bryan Benson and wife Kayli of Delfi, Indiana, Kimberlee Harris of Poteau, Oklahoma, and Mark Harris of Poteau, Oklahoma, his grandfather Bill Newnam of Poteau, Oklahoma, his grandmother Brenda Tackett of Panama, Oklahoma, his aunts Missy Newnam of Pocola, Oklahoma and Tami Tackett of Panama, Oklahoma, his cousins Jordan Newnam of Pocola, Oklahoma, Zoey Henderson of Pocola, Oklahoma, and Ryan Tackett of Panama, Oklahoma, and his nieces and nephews Blayden Tackett, Braysen Tackett, Adalee Harris, Renlee Harris, Briks Benson, and Kendriks Benson, along with many other loved ones and friends.

Services for Will Newnam will be held 1pm – Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Bob Lee Kidd Center (BLK) located at Poteau High School 101 Pirate Lane Poteau, Oklahoma with Pastor Travis Cook officiating and burial to follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Cameron, Oklahoma. The Family of Will Newnam will meet and greet friends from 6pm – 8pm on Friday, December 13, 2024, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave. Poteau, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Dereck Landrum, Blake Tackett, Jacob Newnam, Jordan Newnam, Maverick Wooten, and Jake Fredrickson. Honorary Casket bearers will be the Poteau Wrestling Team.
