NORMAN — OU sophomore designated hitter Easton Carmichael has been named an All-American by the National College Baseball Writers Association. The NCBWA announced its All-America teams Wednesday.
Carmichael earned third team honors at the DH position, slashing .366/.406/.563 in 2024 while helping lead the Sooners to a Big 12 title, NCAA tournament appearance and 40-win season.
The Prosper, Texas, product started 60 of OU’s 61 games and hit .366 with seven home runs, 19 doubles and five triples to go with a team-best 93 hits and 64 runs batted in.
Carmichael led the Sooners with multiple hits in 32 games to accompany 15 multi-RBI games. The All-Big 12 first team selection had multiple hits in six of OU’s nine postseason games with four extra-base hits and five RBIs.
In Big 12 play, Carmichael led the conference with 52 hits, 39 RBIs and four triples while batting .406. He ranked in the top five in league play in four other categories, including runs scored (37), doubles (10) and total bases (85).
Carmichael is OU’s 67th All-American in program history and the first since three Sooners earned honors in 2022.
He adds to his 2024 accolades with his first career All-America honor after being named ABCA All-Region on Tuesday, All-Big 12 First Team earlier this year and All-Big 12 Tournament Team and NCAA Norman All-Regional.
