NORMAN – Oklahoma baseball redshirt sophomore shortstop Peyton Graham has been named one of six finalists for the Brooks Wallace Award, presented to nation’s top shortstop, the College Baseball Foundation announced Wednesday.

Graham is joined on the list of finalists by Danny Digeorgio of Rutgers, Tommy Sacco of TCU, Tanner Schobel of Virginia Tech and Taylor Young of Louisiana Tech.

Graham is also a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, a first-team All-Big 12 selection and was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2022 Big 12 Championship. He leads Oklahoma with 16 home runs, four triples, 60 RBIs, 65 runs scored and 30 stolen bases, and has batted .338 this season. He has also registered 14 doubles, 25 multiple hit games and a team-best 18 multiple RBI contests.

The Waxahachie, Texas, product has been particularly effective at the plate in the second half of the season. In 28 games since April 10, Graham has batted .371 (43 of 116) with 36 RBIs and 39 runs scored. He has posted a .724 slugging percentage and a .469 OBP while recording 17 of his 22 walks and nine of his 16 home runs. He is 20 of 21 in stolen base attempts and has committed only three errors over the last 28 contests.

The award, sponsored by Mizuno, honors the nation’s top shortstop and will be presented this summer by the College Baseball Foundation. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.

Oklahoma (37-20, 15-9 Big 12) will face Liberty (37-21, 19-11 ASUN) to open the Gainesville Regional on Friday. Game time is scheduled for noon CT on ESPN+.
