NORMAN — No. 13 Oklahoma took the series opener over Gonzaga Friday evening in Norman by a final of 14-4 in eight innings.

The Sooners (9-1) were powered by a six-running first inning, highlighted by senior Dayton Tockey’s second home run of the season on a two-run shot. Junior Brendan Brock chipped in his team-leading third homer of the year with a three-run blast in the sixth.

Senior Trey Gambill sealed the run-rule victory with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eighth after a leadoff single from Deiten Lachance and RBI triple from Jaxon Willits.

On the mound, junior starting left-handed pitcher Cameron Johnson earned his third win of the season in as many starts. Johnson surrendered a three-run third inning but held Gonzaga (2-6) scoreless in his other four innings pitched, striking out seven and walking none.

Sophomore Trent Collier worked an efficient 1.2 innings, putting down his five batters faced on just 20 pitches, surrendering no runs or hits with one strikeout. Senior Reid Hensley finished the game, hurling 1.1 innings with one strikeout while allowing one run on two hits and a walk.
