NORMAN — No. 21 Oklahoma completed the three-game sweep over Coppin State with a 11-0 run-rule win Sunday afternoon in Norman.
The Sooners (7-0) outscored the Eagles (0-4) 57-1 on the weekend and outhit the opposition 37-9. With its seventh straight game scoring 10-plus, Oklahoma broke the program record for consecutive games with double-digit runs, eclipsing the 1998 and 1988 teams’ six consecutive.
Oklahoma raced out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, capped by a two-run double from freshman Alec Blair. The Sooners put up more crooked numbers in the second and third innings en route to their third straight run-rule win in seven innings.
On the bump, freshman Cord Rager (W, 2-0) went five innings and fanned seven while allowing no runs, three hits and one walk. Through two starts the lefty has surrendered just one earned run.
OU swiped a season-high 10 bases Sunday, the most since stealing 11 vs. Wichita State in 2022 (2/22/22). The team was paced by Trey Gambill and Camden Johnson’s four each, the most since a program-record five stolen bases by Derek Wathan vs. Kansas State in 1996.
Eight Sooners registered a hit in Sunday’s contest with six bringing in at least one run and three (Blair, Drew Dickerson, Jaxon Willits) recording double-digit RBIs.
