NORMAN — No. 9 Oklahoma dropped the second game of the SEC opening weekend series to No. 22 Texas A&M Saturday by a final of 9-5.

The Aggies (16-2, 1-1) evened the series at one game each and set up a 1 p.m. CT rubber match Sunday.

Oklahoma (16-3, 1-1) loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh but could scrape just one run across via walk before a fielder’s choice ended the threat. A&M would go on to plate three in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

OU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning via Brendan Brock’s sixth home run of the season and second in as many games before the Aggies rattled off six straight runs. The visitors were powered by four home runs on the day.

Oklahoma clawed back to a one-run deficit after freshman Alec Blair’s first collegiate home run in the sixth and the bases-loaded walk in the seventh, but A&M’s three-run ninth pushed the series to a Sunday rubber game.

On the mound, OU starting right-handed pitcher LJ Mercurius took his first loss of the season, surrendering four earned runs on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.
