RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the baseball players of the week for the opening week of the 2024 season. Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Carson Wright and Southern Arkansas’ Will Richardson shared Player of the Week while Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Cameron Hauch garnered Pitcher of the Week.

Wright hit .500 and scored five runs as the Rangers took two of three against MSU Denver, a 2023 NCAA Regional participant. In game one, he recorded the only three-homer game in Division II of the weekend. He hit home runs in his first two at bats then led off the button of the ninth with a game-tying home run. He reached base four times and scored twice in game two.

Richardson collected six hits and scored seven runs in three Muleriders’ wins at the Dugan Invitational. He hit a grand slam, drove in five and scored four runs against Rogers State. He reached base four times and scored twice against Northeastern State. He added a single and a run against Colorado School of Mines. SAU won the three games by a combined 50-8 margin.#theGAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Cameron Hauch, SP, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Jr., Burleson, Texas
Hauch picked up the victory in game one of the Savage Storm’s three-game sweep of Colorado-Colorado Springs. He pitched 6.0 innings and surrendered only one unearned run and two hits. He struck out five and walked only one in the 10-1 win. He faced only three batters above the minimum in the 72-pitch outing.
