RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the baseball weekly award winners for the third week of the 2025 season. Arkansas-Monticello’s Chaz Poppy garnered Player of the Week and Harding’s Maddox Long claimed Pitcher of the Week.

#theGAC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Chaz Poppy, C/DH, Arkansas-Monticello, Sr., Sherwood, Arkansas
Poppy hit .750 with a .769 on-base percentage in the Weevils’s GAC-opening series against Southern Nazarene. He registered four-hit games in both the opener and the finale. He hit a two-run home run and scored three times in game one, a 22-4 triumph. He doubled, stole a base and drove home four runs in game three. He owns a GAC-leading .486 average.

#theGAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Maddox Long, SP, Harding, Gr., Morrilton, Arkansas
Long registered his first double-digit strikeout performance of the season – sixth of his career – after he fanned 10 in the Bisons’ 6-1 win against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Friday. He limited the Rangers to just three hits and a walk across 8.0 innings of work. In improving to 3-0, he recorded his third-straight start with just one earned run allowed and one walk or less.
