BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Oklahoma men’s basketball freshman guard Jeremiah Fears was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for his performances against then-No. 24/21 Michigan and Central Arkansas.

Against the Wolverines, Fears scored a season-high 30 points on 8-for-12 shooting, burying three 3-pointers. The Joliet, Ill., product’s 4-point play with 11.5 seconds left put the Sooners up 87-86, securing the victory. Fears scored 20 of his team-high 30 points in the second half and helped the Sooners overcome an 11-point deficit.

He is the first OU true freshman since Trae Young against West Virginia on Feb. 5, 2018, to score 30-plus points.

Fears continued his hot start to the season against Central Arkansas, scoring 19 points and dishing out a team-high five assists.

He averaged 24.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals per outing. Fears earned his second weekly honor of the season. He was previously named freshman of the week for his performances in the Battle 4 Atlantis Nov. 25-27.
