RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s fourth Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the 2021 season. Arkansas Tech’s Jayana Sanders and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Makyra Tramble shared the Women’s award while Oklahoma Baptist’s and Brantly Thompson and Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Adam Dworsky claimed the Men’s accolade
GAC WOMEN’S CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jayana Sanders, Arkansas Tech, G, Sr., Pine Bluff, Arkansas
Sanders helped the Golden Suns remain undefeated as they rallied from an 11-point second-half against Southern Arkansas. In the 82-75 win, she flirted with a triple-double as she scored 20 points, pulled down nine rebounds and dished out nine assists. She scored 13 of her game-high 20 points in the second half.
GAC WOMEN’S CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Makyra Tramble, Southwestern Oklahoma State, F, So., Shawnee, Oklahoma
Tramble paced the Lady Bulldogs to three victories to maintain a half-game lead in the Western Division at the halfway point of the regular season. She narrowly missed out on a triple-double against Oklahoma Baptist as she totaled 23 points, nine rebounds and nine steals. She averaged 18.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.7 steals and 3.7 assists in the three wins.
GAC MEN’S CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brantly Thompson, Oklahoma Baptist, G, Sr., Tuttle, Oklahoma
Thompson pushed the Bison into first place in the Western Division as he averaged 19.7 points in victories against Southern Nazarene, Southwestern Oklahoma State and East Central. He hit six 3-pointers against the Crimson Storm, five against the Bulldogs and three against the Tigers. He shot 56.0 percent from the 3-point arc.
GAC MEN’S CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Adam Dworsky, Southeastern Oklahoma State, G, Sr., Flower Mound, Texas
Dworsky averaged 21.3 points, 9.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds. He set the GAC’s career record for assists in the Savage Storm’s double-overtime contest against East Central. He scored 35 points versus the Tigers. He followed up with nine assists and no turnovers against Southern Nazarene. He finished with 17 points and 11 assists against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
