RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the women’s and men’s basketball players of the week for the penultimate week of the 2023-24 season. Arkansas Tech’s Taelon Peter and Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Kody Clouet shared the men’s honor while Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Faith Simpson earned the women’s accolade.
#theGAC MEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Taelon Peter, G, Arkansas Tech, Jr., Russellville, ArkansasPeter averaged 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds as the Wonder Boys scored road wins against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State. He shot 50.0 percent from the floor and made 6-of-11 3-point tries. He set season highs of nine rebounds and five assists against the Rangers, to go along with 28 points.
#theGAC MEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kody Clouet, G, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Jr., San Marcos, CaliforniaClouet led the Savage Storm to home wins against Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State as the Savage Storm pushed their win streak to 11. He scored a career-high 33 points and went 7-for-13 from the 3-point arc against the Tigers. He followed up with 15 points, five rebounds and two steals in a 25-point win against the Reddies.
#theGAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Faith Simpson, F, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Sr., Palisade, NebraskaSimpson helped the Rangers push their home win streak to 16 straight as they defeated No. 5 Harding and Arkansas Tech. Against the nationally-ranked Lady Bisons, she notched her 16th 20-point game and her seventh double-double as she totaled 20 points and 12 rebounds. She followed up with 15 points – on 6-of-11 shooting – and eight rebounds against Arkansas Tech.
