RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the men’s basketball players of the week for the eighth week of the 2024-25 season. Ouachita Baptist’s Hobert Grayson won Offensive Player of the Week and Henderson State’s Matthew Mayes claimed Defensive Player of the Week.

#theGAC MEN’S BASKETBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Hobert Grayson, F, Ouachita Baptist, Jr., Gonzales, Louisiana
Grayson picked up his fifth weekly award of the season after he guided the Tigers to a 78-72 home win against Arkansas Tech. He made 9-of-15 field goals and hit 2-of-4 3-point tries en route to scoring a game-high 29 points. He grabbed nine rebounds a block, a steal and an assist. He ranks seventh in the country in scoring at 24.8 points per game.

#theGAC MEN’S BASKETBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Matthew Mayes, G, Henderson State, Jr., Inglewood, California
Mayes helped the Reddies improve to 4-0 in GAC road games after he gathered five steals, four rebounds and two blocks in Henderson State’s three-point win at Arkansas-Monticello. The five steals matched a season high and gave him six games with four steals or more. His 3.1 steals per game lead the GAC and rank seventh in Division II.
