RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the women’s and men’s basketball players of the week for the 13th week of the 2023-24 season. Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Kenzli Warden and Southern Nazarene’s Abbie Jiles shared the women’s honor while the Savage Storm’s Brennen Burns and Arkansas Tech’s Taelon Peter shared the men’s award.
#theGAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kenzli Warden, G, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Fr., Tecumseh, Oklahoma
Warden averaged 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in victories against East Central and Southwestern Oklahoma State. She tallied 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks against the Tigers. She followed up with 21 points and nine rebounds against the Lady Bulldogs.#theGAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Abbie Jiles, G, Southern Nazarene, Gr., Searcy, Arkansas
Jiles shot 63.6 percent from the floor and 58.3 percent from the 3-point arc in victories against Oklahoma Baptist and East Central. She scored 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting against the Bison. She made 6-of-9 3-point attempts. She made 5-of-8 field goals and scored 12 points against the Tigers.#theGAC MEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Taelon Peter, G, Arkansas Tech, Jr., Russellville, Arkansas
Peter averaged 26.0 points as the Wonder Boys defeated Harding and Ouachita Baptist. He registered his second 30-point game of the season when he scored 30 in an 89-66 road win against the Bisons. He went 9-for-16 from the floor and hit four 3-pointers. He went 8-for-15 in scoring 22 points in a 16-point win at Ouachita Baptist.#theGAC MEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brennen Burns, G, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Jr., Bethany, Oklahoma
Burns flirted with a triple-double in the Savage Storm’s 82-75 home victory against East Central as he scored 14 points, doled out 12 assists and grabbed nine rebounds. He went 4-for-4 from the floor. He made 8-of-11 shots and scored 17 points against Southwestern Oklahoma State. He added nine assists and five rebounds. His 6.7 assists per game rank second in Division II.
