RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the women’s and men’s basketball players of the week for the third week of the 2023-24 season. Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Faith Simpson and Southern Nazarene’s Lauryn Reither shared the Women’s award while Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Robert Briley claimed the Men’s honor.
#theGAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Faith Simpson, F, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Sr., Palisade, NebraskaSimpson guided the Rangers to a pair of wins at the Hoops in Hawai’i Thanksgiving Classic as she averaged 21.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Against Chaminade, she scored 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked two shots. Against Stanislaus State, she tallied 23 points and 14 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
#theGAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Lauryn Reither, G, Southern Nazarene, Gr., Oklahoma City, OklahomaReither led the Crimson Storm to two victories as they completed the non-conference portion of their season at 6-0. In a 21-point win against Missouri Southern State, she finished with 16 points – on 6-of-10 shooting – seven assists, five rebounds and four steals. Against Lubbock Christian, she made 9-of-13 shots and scored 21 points. She added six assists and four steals.
#theGAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Robert Briley, F, Southeastern Oklahoma State, So., Wright City, OklahomaBriley fueled a second-half comeback against Lubbock Christian as he scored a career-high 20 points in the 80-76 win on Friday. He went 7-for-9 from the floor, including the game-winning lay up with four seconds remaining. He followed up with 10 points and five rebounds against UT Permian Basin.
