RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the football players of the week for the fifth week of the season. Henderson State’s Andrew Edwards won the Offensive Player honor, Arkansas-Monticello’s Ghee Evans earned the Defensive Player accolade while Southern Nazarene’s Kameron Van Prooyen and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Ethan McBee shared the Special Teams award.

#theGAC FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Andrew Edwards, QB, Henderson State, Sr., Bentonville, Arkansas
Edwards threw for 198 yards and ran for a career-high 135 yards as the Reddies defeated Southwestern Oklahoma State, 35-32, for their 12th win in their last 13 meetings in the series. He tossed a pair of touchdowns and added an 11-yard touchdown run. He became the sixth player in GAC history to accumulate 10,000 yards of total offense in a career.

#theGAC FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ghee Evans, LB, Arkansas-Monticello, Jr., Waynesboro, Mississippi
Against Southern Nazarene, Evans turned in one of the most dominating performances in Division II this season. He amassed 17 tackles, the most by a GAC player this season. He added 5.5 tackles-for-loss and 4.0 sacks. The 5.5 tackles-for-loss represent the most by a Division I or II player this season. He became the second Division II player with a four-sack game this season.

#theGAC FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kameron Van Prooyen, K/P, Southern Nazarene, Jr., San Antonio, Texas
Van Prooyen connected on all three of his field-goal attempts against Arkansas-Monticello. He made a 34-yard field goal in the first quarter. He made a 27-yard try in the second quarter. He added a 37-yard attempt in the third quarter. On three punts, he placed two inside the 20-yard line and produced a 50-yard kick in the fourth quarter.

#theGAC FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ethan McBee, K, Southwestern Oklahoma State, So., Poteau, Oklahoma
McBee made a 36-yard field goal, a season-long try, and converted three extra points against Henderson State. In the fourth quarter, he successfully attempted an onsides kick that led to a Bulldog touchdown. He has made 17-of-18 kicks on the season and has scored 23 points.
