#theGAC FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Cade Searcy, RB, East Central, So., Gainesville, Texas
Searcy ran for a career-high 174 yards as the Tigers knocked off No. 15 Ouachita Baptist for their first win in the series since 2012. He scored two touchdowns – both gave the Tigers the lead. He notched the third 100-yard game in his last eight games. The victory also ended Ouachita Baptist’s 17-game win streak in season openers.
#theGAC FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Julien Lopez, LB, Arkansas Tech, Jr., La Puente, California
Lopez picked off two passes in the fourth quarter of the Wonder Boys’ 32-10 victory against Southwestern Oklahoma State. He returned the first interception 19 yards down to the Bulldog 1-yard line to set up Tech’s final touchdown. His second interception came on SWOSU’s final offensive possession. He added seven tackles.
#theGAC FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Carter McElhany, RS, Ouachita Baptist, Jr., Greenbrier, Arkansas
McElhany registered the third kickoff return touchdown of his career when he ran a fourth-quarter kick back 99 yards for a score that gave the Tigers a 22-21 lead. He broke at least eight tackles on the run. He added an 18-yard return earlier in the game.
