RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the football players of the week for the 10th week of the season. Harding’s Braden Jay and Henderson State’s Andrew Edwards shared the Offensive honor. Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Shane Armstrong earned the Defensive award and Oklahoma Baptist’s Matthew Young claimed the Special Teams accolade.

#theGAC FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Braden Jay, RB, Harding, Sr., Cabot, Arkansas
Jay registered multiple touchdowns for the fifth time this season as he scored three rushing touchdowns in the Bisons’ 52-14 road victory against Southern Nazarene. He has scored in every game this season. On only six carries, he gained 103 yards for his fourth 100-yard performance of the season. He increased his rushing average on the season to 14.6 yards per carry.

#theGAC FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Andrew Edwards, QB, Henderson State, Sr., Bentonville, Arkansas
Edwards threw for 237 yards and ran for 54 more as he led the Reddies in their 45-35 win against East Central. He completed 19-of-23 passes for his most efficient passing game since going 17-for-20 against Oklahoma Baptist on November 5, 2022. He threw two touchdowns and ran for two more, his fifth game this season with both a passing and rushing touchdown.

#theGAC FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Shane Armstrong, LB, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Jr., Eagle Pass, Texas
Armstrong doubled his previous high for tackles in a game after he amassed a game-high 14 stops against Ouachita Baptist. He made nine solo tackles. He recorded 3.0 tackles-for-loss, including 2.0 sacks. He caused a turnover with a forced fumble on the Tigers’ first drive of the second quarter. The Bulldogs converted the turnover into a touchdown.

#theGAC FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Matthew Young, KR, Oklahoma Baptist, So., Rockwall, Texas
Young ran a first-quarter kick 100 yards for a touchdown against Arkansas Tech. He became the seventh player in GAC history with a 100-yard return and the since Ouachita Baptist’s Carter McElhany’s return against Northwestern Oklahoma State on September 12, 2024. He notched the Bisons’ first kick return touchdown since September 18, 2021.
