RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – On Wednesday, the Great American Conference named Harding’s Anna Kay Clark as its 2023-24 Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Clark’s recognition gives Harding the GAC Female Scholar Athlete recipients. Former women’s basketball standouts Kristen Celsor and Arielle Saunders won in 2013-14 and 2014-15. She becomes the second women’s track and field student-athlete recognized as the top scholar athlete. East Centra’s Abbie Winchester won in 2019-20.
Clark graduated with a degree in information systems with a 3.98 GPA. In graduate school, she owns a perfect 4.00 GPA. She became a two-time Academic All-American as she made the First Team in 2024.
On the track, she qualified for the NCAA National Championships in the javelin for the third time in career. At the NCAA Championships, she set a school record with a throw of 47.64 meters. She earned First-Team All-American honors for the second time, 2021. She won the event title at the GAC Championships for the fourth-straight year.
Other nominees for the 2023-24 GAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Year award included Arkansas Tech’s Gracie Palmer (Volleyball), Arkansas-Monticello’s Kyann Woods (Softball), East Central’s Taylor Spence (Softball), Henderson State’s Allie Bianchi (Golf), Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Josena Frame (Basketball), Oklahoma Baptist’s Avery Hellmuth (Volleyball), Ouachita Baptist’s Abbey Moore (Soccer), Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Sarah Coblentz (Cross Country/Track & Field), Southern Arkansas’ Morgan Schuster (Volleyball), Southern Nazarene’s Lauryn Reither (Basketball) and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Sola Tsuruta (Soccer).
